Celebrate Earth Day with Earth Week Plus!

Our Earth Friendly Expo offers free Workshops and Presentations for adults and children alike.


Earth Week Expo Northern Michigan 2019

Saturday, April 13th, 2019.

What: A free, family-friendly event featuring presentations about the earth and its creatures, displays, and exhibits for all ages. Help us celebrate our 11th year!

Earth Week Plus attendees are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to a charity for 2019 that will be announced.

Please bring your printer ink cartridges to be recycled to support the Key Club. Their recycling program helps pay for our youth to take trips with Key Club International.

Where:  Cheboygan High School801 West Lincoln Ave. Cheboygan, Michigan. 49721

When: Saturday, April 13th, 2019 – 10:00 am to 1:45 pm

Doors open at 10:00 am, so you have time to view the great informative, and often interactive displays.
We have three sessions of programs starting at 11:00 am.

The Cheboygan High School Key Club will have pizza and snacks  available for purchase in the Cafeteria.

2019 Earth Week Plus Expo Schedule

Please bring your empty ink cartridges! The Key Club Member Students will be doing face-painting and collecting empty ink cartridges as a fundraiser.

Session A: 11:00 – 11:45

  1. Magic of Recycling:  Jania Taylor.  Have fun learning to reduce, reuse and recycle. In the Gym
  2. Gardening at The Water’s Edge:  Bret Huntman, owner of North by Nature landscaping.
  3. What are “Yooperlites?”: Erik Rintamaki.
  4. Invasive Forest Pests: Early Detection, Rapid Response: – Amber Neils
  5. Bike Maintenance Clinic:  Bill Prall, Safety & Maintenance Director, Top of Michigan Trails Council:  Bring your bike (or simply attend) to learn more about the basics of maintaining a bicycle.

Session B: 12:00 – 12:45 

  1. GarLyn Zoo – Experience the Wild. See live animals and learn about their habitat.
  2. What’s Up with Recycling Today?  And how can you help. Kate Melby.
  3. History Beneath Our Feet: Lynn Evans.
  4. Create Your Natural Shoreline. Protect your property and enhance your view.  Jason Brabbs, North by Nature Landscapes Designer.
  5. Renewables Come to Cheboygan County: Green energy and job opportunities. Anabel & David Dwyer, Vince Lumetta.
  6. Bike Maintenance Clinic: Bill Prall, Safety & Maintenance Director, Top of Michigan Trails Council: Bring your bike (or simply attend) to learn more about the basics of maintaining a bicycle.

Session C: 1:00 – 1:45
